Timmermann Media Group, LLC and an anonymous artist dropped the first officially authorized Q Shaman NFT collection on the OpenSea platform (available here: https://opensea.io/collection/shamanlife).
Jacob Chansley (formerly QAnon Shaman) is inextricably linked to the January 6, 2021 events at the Capitol building. After expressing disappointment in Trump and disavowing QAnon, he now embraces the movements of crypto, DeFi, and community-led empowerment and acknowledges the transformative role that they play in galvanizing efforts towards a more equitable future.
The entire collection is limited to 1,006 unique NFTs including animated images with attribute rarity properties, never before seen images of Jacob donning crypto apparel, and original artwork from Jacob who is an artist himself. The animated art ranges from lighthearted and frivolous to introspective and provocative and everything in between. The collection’s first preview edition drops on December 17.
The iconic images are created under exclusive license, and Jacob provided oversight to the creative process and contributed some of his own art. They invite you to historicize a piece of one of the most fractious and challenging periods in U.S. history and join a community of individuals intrigued by the intersection of politics, crypto, media, tribalism, and Shamanic culture.
Disinformation, a troubling trend of political polarization, the emergence of a cult of personality, and a long standing mental health vulnerability were key elements of this story that haven’t garnered enough discussion, and this NFT collection is seen as an opportunity to reclaim a narrative by leveraging decentralization and digital art.
To add significance beyond the digital world, around the 1-year anniversary of the Jan 6 event, the project will announce a surprise live exclusive event for owners of certain NFTs in the collection. More details to follow.
Ultimately, this NFT collection is not trying to encourage people to espouse a certain narrative or political values; rather, it exists to spark a productive and thoughtful discourse.
In the words of Jacob Chansley, “crypto and DeFi — that’s the future”.
