Eric Trump Appointed to Metaplanet’s Advisory Board

Metaplanet, the largest corporate holder of bitcoin in Japan, has recently announced the inclusion of Eric Trump in its newly established strategic advisory board. This strategic move is designed to boost Metaplanet’s mission of promoting bitcoin adoption as it continues to gain significant traction in mainstream settings.

On Friday, Metaplanet unveiled this initiative, highlighting that Eric Trump’s experience and enthusiasm for bitcoin will be essential in pursuing the company’s objectives. As the son of former U.S. President Donald Trump, Eric has developed into a prominent advocate for the expansion of bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency landscape.

This advisory board will feature additional influential personalities whose identities have yet to be revealed, as per Metaplanet’s statements. Their primary objective is to unite leaders across business, politics, and technology to foster the global acceptance of bitcoin.

Metaplanet’s Representative Director, Simon Gerovich, endorsed Trump’s new role, underlining his business savvy as well as his commitment to the bitcoin community. Gerovich stated, “His deep understanding of business and fervor for BTC will significantly propel our mission as we work to establish one of the foremost Bitcoin Treasury Companies globally.”

Operating out of Tokyo, Metaplanet has aggressively built its bitcoin reserves, currently owning over 3,200 BTC, valued at around $267 million. Earlier this March, the company acquired an additional 150 bitcoins for approximately $12.5 million.

Founded in 1999, Metaplanet has shifted its strategic focus towards bitcoin investment and advocacy efforts. The firm is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and was previously known as Red Planet Japan.

Eric Trump has increasingly expressed his support for bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. He is also involved with World Liberty Financial, a Trump family crypto initiative. Meanwhile, his father, Donald Trump, recently enacted an executive order aimed at establishing a strategic bitcoin reserve.

As bitcoin becomes more mainstream, Metaplanet is counting on crypto-savvy advisors like Trump to encourage institution-level acceptance. The trend of major corporations adding bitcoin to their balance sheets could significantly enhance its status as a viable corporate asset.
