Today, the BTCPay Server Foundation has received a $25,000 grant in bitcoin from Unbank, a Bitcoin exchange that focuses on cash transactions. This grant will support contributors working on developing new features, open-source payment innovation, and maintaining BTCPay Server’s Greenfield APIs and codebase.
According to BTCPay Server core contributor R0ckstar Dev, “Unbank’s support demonstrates the increasing recognition of open-source payment solutions within the Bitcoin ecosystem. This grant will enhance BTCPay Server’s capabilities and expand its reach.”
Unbank, known for its bitcoin ATM network of over 830 ATMs and 30,000 partner locations, utilizes BTCPay Server to process bitcoin sell transactions through their app.
Emilio Pagan-Yourno, CEO and COO of Unbank, expressed their appreciation for BTCPay Server, stating, “We rely on their API to batch and broadcast transactions every 15 minutes when customers purchase Bitcoin at our ATMs. Supporting BTCPay Server is crucial for our business and a privilege to contribute to the FOSS ecosystem that empowers financial freedom.”
Last summer, BTCPay released a documentary showcasing the use of bitcoin as a medium of exchange at the largest Bitcoin conference in Nashville. In collaboration with Jack Maller’s company Strike, BTCPay enabled all vendors at the conference to accept bitcoin as payment.
